Macbeth or The Tragedy of Macbeth is a tragedy written by English poet, playwright and actor William Shakespeare, who is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world preeminent dramatist. It is mostly regarded as one of the darkest and most powerful works. Macbeth is Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy and it is about brave Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy of him becoming King of Scotland. He kills previous king and takes the throne for himself. Guilt and paranoia made him a tyrannical ruler and he’s forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself . The bloodbath and civil war take Macbeth and his wife into realms of death, arrogance and madness. Theatre players believe that the play is cursed, so they don’t mention the title aloud, calling it instead “the Scottish play”.
