WHEN IT WAS DARK is a powerful novel about a plot to destroy Christianity.  The story follows the machinations of a wealthy Londoner, Constantine Schaube, who bribes a noted Biblical expert to plant a false inscription on an ancient tomb, which seems to refute the Resurrection of Jesus.  In the ensuing worldwide turmoil, crime, violence, and immorality increase, providing a frightening look into a world where Christianity is absent.

Cyril Arthur Edward Justice Waggoner Ranger Gull (1876-1923) was an English journalist and writer who used the pen name Guy Thorne.  After studying at Oxford, he wrote for a number of newspapers, including the Daily Mail and the Daily Express.  He began publishing novels in 1900 and continued regularly until his death in 1923.  WHEN IT WAS DARK was by far his best selling work, selling more than a half-million copies.
