The Red of an Apple is Young Adult contemporary fiction set in Toronto, a coming-of-age inspirational story with issues of adolescence, family, and friendships.

Lindy Shaw is a city teenager, who by junior year firmly thinks she understands other students her age, until she experiences a summer that shows her no two teenagers are alike.

The 11th-grader has everything figured out. Yet an injury derails her summer plans. She accepts a tutoring job only to discover that the students are probation department teens. When an uncle disappears, her family coalesces to find him and in the process discovers a deeper truth about their background.

The Red of an Apple is a story about a family that balances working together with learning to think for themselves.
