Henry Yates chronicles the fall of society from the isolation of his quarters on board the Canoy, a freighter stranded somewhere off the Eastern Coast. He and hundreds of others escaped the infected during the initial outbreak, which he recounts in his journal as he contemplates his newest problem. After a supply run to the shore, one of his crew came back acting strangely. Sam is possibly infected and locked away in the lower decks of the ship as the others decide what to do.
