Robert Browning (1812-1889) was a prominent English poet and playwright. His works are full of deep philosophical thoughts, his writing style is quite sophisticated and at the same time vague. Robert Browning is consdered to be the master of dramatic monologue with the elelements of irony, dark humour and social commentary. Elizabeth Barrett Barrett (1806-1861) began writing poetry at the age of six. She was brought up in a religious family and this had a major influence on her perception of the world and her writing style as many of her works carry religious themes. Eventually she bacame one of the most famous poets of the Victorian Era who gained recogninition in the United Kingdom as well as in the USA. Robert Browning was a secret admirer of Elizabeth Barrett's literary work and on 10th January of the year 1845 he sent her the first letter. She wrote him back and that was the moment when their love story began. This book represents a collection of their letter exhange.
