My father, Howard Allen McCants-Bey one of nine children born unto my grandparents Daniel and Gertrude McCants in Massillon, Ohio on March 1st 1928. In 1937 they migrated to Michigan in search of opportunities. My father also known as Fritz had a love for learning which separated him scholastically from his peers, graduating with honors from high school.

Being a superior athlete with a herculean 6'10" physique he was set apart from his classmates which enabled him a scholarship to Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. My father lettered in football 1951, 52 and 53. His dominance gained him notoreity and subsequently he was drafter unto the NFL by my hometown Detroit Lions.
