A long, miserable childhood spent protecting his mother from his abusive father has left Tom Delaney a guarded, wary man. His only solace is Bannon’s Gym and its hard-nosed owner Danny, who taught Tom to take back his power with his fists.

Even Tom’s lover Travis—fellow mixed martial arts fighter and Tom’s personal trainer—has a hard time getting through to him. Travis desperately wants to take their relationship to the next level by moving in together, but Tom resists. Gloria, who took him in and treated him like her own, is ill and growing worse. Tom, still reeling from his own mother’s suicide, can’t bear to leave her.

Enter Aaron, a former ICU nurse with a drug problem that cost him his last job. Now clean and sober, he’s trying to put his life back together, and Gloria’s son Eddie’s offer of a live-in job taking care of her seems like just the thing to get him back on his feet.

Which leaves Tom free to accept Travis’s offer. But Tom – afraid of being pushed out of his family of choice – rebels. An explosive sparring session leaves Travis with a broken nose and Danny ready to boot Tom out of the gym for good.
