"This book reveals a surprising winter (November 2012/March 2013) artistic collaboration between two New York City metropolitan-area creative masters: visual artist, Christie Devereaux and poet, Michael Foldes. Their unique collaboration was conceived in the wake of Superstorm Sandy’s incredible devastation in which both artists were deeply and directly involved (e.g., Devereaux’s mother’s home was inundated by the Atlantic Ocean and Foldes was an eye-witness to Manhattan’s flooding that reached a high-water mark at 34th Street). Confronting Sandy’s chaotic horror, sorrow, and pain caused Devereaux to reexamine her emerging “Storm Series” as post-Sandy reflections (in paint), probing Nature’s brutality and fury. Meanwhile, Foldes had begun writing the first “Sandy poems”. Soon after, the two were merging their works in what would become a series of storm-related poems illumined with virtuoso illustrations."
-- From the Foreword by Dr. Jose Rodeiro, Professor of Art History, New Jersey City University.
