Former British Security Service and MI-5 operative, Banistre Richard Wade, a partner in a private security software company, becomes the target of a sting by MI-6. Loath to have his past connections to London's underworld revealed, Wade reluctantly plays along. Wade makes a lot of money under the direction of "Frank Nichols" or Oliver Sommes of MI-6. The Security Service suspects Wade was bribed to the tune of fifty million pounds by Iranian operatives to compromise their planned operation to slip compromised software into Iranian computers and they target Carol Wade, Banistre's wife, to locate where this money is hidden. The Wades take a vacation in Scotland and stay at the Culloden House where murder most foul takes place and the Inverness police have a puzzle on their hands.
