James Baldwin was an American editor and prolific writer, mostly known as the children's author in the subjects of legends, mythology, biography. “Mignon” is a short story, entered in the collection of Fifty Famous Stories, published in 1896. This tale is about a little girl named Mignon, who is one of the rope-dancers and who looks like a boy if she has not been for the long curls of black hair wound about her head. A young man named Wilhelm is staying at an inn in the city. Once as he is going upstairs he meets a Mignon, and at that time he decides to take her away from the rope-dancers group.
