Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Politik - Politische Theorie und Ideengeschichte, Note: 1,7, Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Hauptseminar: Max Weber, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: This work pointed out Max Weber´s preference for a formal rational modern capitalism over an 'irrational socialism' in economic action. In contrast to a planned economy Weber concedes that the private enterprise have an 'objectified rationality' which means the presence of free markets and a calculable legal system. According to Weber capitalism as an economic system with its concept of rationality is mainly characterized by accumulating money and capital to deal with profit. A planned economy with its natural accounting and dependence on demand is not suitable for a meaningful productive management. In a socialist economy Weber constitutes a rational deficit because of the absence of money and therefore no objectiveness. Nevertheless Weber had an affirmative attitude to a political socialism though with qualification.
