Joshua Nash is a shy but confident twelve-year-old boy who never knew his mother. He has never had a real home because he has wandered from town to town his entire life with his abusive and alcoholic father. Joshuas childhood is a very unhappy one.

Ruth Bigg is a cheerful seven-year-old girl from a small town called Forest Happy. Raised by Christian parents, Ruth is surrounded by a loving family, and her childhood is one free from pain until Joshua and his father arrive.

When Joshua and Ruths paths cross, so do their fortunes and misfortunes. Ruth becomes familiar with Joshuas pain while Joshua gets a glimpse of what a happy childhood resembles. In the midst of it all, Joshuas father plants tragedy in the lives of the Biggs, and it threatens to destroy them and Joshuas newfound happiness.

In the many years that follow, the Biggs move past the painful tragedy by the grace of God. They never lose their positive outlook on life because of their faith in God.

Joshua finds acceptance from people who love and care for him, but there is still a deep longing within him for a place called home. With Ruths help and encouragement, he tries to make sense of his awful past and find his way home.

Learning to Find Home is a fictional story that illustrates the power behind Romans 8:28. Everything that happens in life works out for good in the lives of those that love God.
