Immigrating to New Zealand can be a big change in your life, every year thousands of people make the move to New Zealand for many different reasons. There are many opportunities and for many people it can mean a much better life for them, their children and their children’s children.
I have written this book mainly for people who are thinking of making a new life in New Zealand, people who are aiming at getting permanent residence here. Residence is the aim of many people and is generally the most difficult application, but the one which has the biggest rewards. However the information contained within this book will be relevant for people with any type of visa in mind.
The information in this book is current at October 2016. The New Zealand immigration regime changes regularly, but all effort is made to provide information which reflects the New Zealand Government’s policy on immigration in general.

Before you begin your immigration journey however, always consult with a professional if you are unsure of the most up to date information.

I have aimed to write this book in plain language so that as many people as possible can understand the New Zealand immigration system without having to study New Zealand immigration law beforehand. Law is a difficult subject and I strongly believe that the content and intention of the law should not be even more confused with unnecessarily difficult language. As the vast majority of the people wishing to immigrate to New Zealand are not lawyers with an English speaking background, I hope that you will find the information in this book both accessible and useful.
