In 1961 the Dominican Republic has become a pariah nation ruled by a vain, clinically paranoid egomaniac. There are those both within and outside the government determined to eliminate Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina.
John Murphy and John Hooper, both former American soldiers stranded in Puerto Rico and in need of more rewarding employment, accept positions as bodyguards for members of a cabal plotting Trujillo’s removal. But after a few incidents that attract the attention of the dictator’s military secret police, they become the prey. Not only must they fight for their own survival without compromising the plot against Trujillo, they also have to find a way out of the country before the conspirators strike lest they be caught in the net that’s sure to follow.
