The Candidate was a well-known celebrity in his own right and by all metrics he was far from winning the presidential nomination for his party. The outgoing president had left a legacy of “Change” which after eight years in office, had been tantamount to destroying the very fabric and philosophy of the United States. Debt had gone astronomical. Foreign relations were abysmal. Long standing treaties were now in jeopardy. Close and cherished Allies had oxidized into paper-thin, bulwarks of tolerance. So much which was done must be undone.
Ignoring friend’s suggestions that he had rocks in his head, this always aggressive, perennially successful business man and Mega-Billionaire devises a plan to guarantee his election, enlist a meaningful coalition to safeguard future generations and defeat a deadly, nuclear proliferation that would threaten the existence of the known world. He realizes the necessity of dismantling and reversing his predecessor’s establishment of a noxious treaty agreement which releases former sanctions and returns one-hundred fifty billion dollars to proven terrorist sponsors. All he had to do was to enroll a few people in his plan: the Russian Premier, the Ayatollah of Iran and his major competitor for the nomination. Easy.
Not so fast said the American political system when its vested interests were threatened. The system would be turned upside down, exposing political party chicanery and a self-perpetuating system guaranteed to insulate the status quo against spoilers who would threaten their thrones.
