This Worldwide Equipment Guide (WEG) describes the spectrum of worldwide systems and system trends in the Contemporary Operational Environment (COE), serving as an authoritative "encyclopedia" of weapons around the world. This is the newest edition revised in 2011. This handbook is one of a series that describes a contemporary Opposing Force (OPFOR) for training U.S. Military commanders, staffs, and units. Together, these handbooks outline an OPFOR than can cover the entire spectrum of military and paramilitary capabilities against which the U.S. Military must train to ensure success in any future conflict.

Part Five includes the section of Volume One covering antitank and anti-armor weaponry.

CHAPTER 6 - ANTITANK AND ANTI-ARMOR * Table: AT/AA Systems: Key Technology Trends * Spectrum of Weapons and Munitions * Multi-role Weapons and Munitions * Threats to Vehicle Mobility * Kinetic Energy Threats to Light Armor * Recoilless Weapons for Modern Warfare * Dismounted Infantry Crew Served Weapons * RPG-29 Mounted 105-mm Grenade Launcher * Eryx Man-portable ATGM Launcher * Starstreak Air Defense/Anti-armor Missile * AT-7/13 Man-portable ATGM Launcher * Spike BLOS ATGM Launcher * Milan/Milan 3/Milan ADT ATGM Launcher * AT-3/Malyutka-2 ATGM Launcher * Portable Mounted Crew-served Weapons * SPG-9M 73-mm Recoilless Gun * M79 82-mm Recoilless Gun * 9P135 ATGM Launcher for AT-4/5 ATGMs * Kornet-E and Kvartet ATGM Launchers * Red Arrow-8 ATGM Launcher * Towed or Vehicle-Mounted Recoilless Guns * B-10 82-mm Recoilless Gun * M60 82-mm Recoilless Gun * B-11 107-mm Recoilless Gun * Towed Antitank Guns * ZIS-3 76-mm Towed Antitank Gun * D-44/SD-44 85-mm Towed Gun * MT-12/MT-12R 100-mm Towed AT Gun * 2A45M 125-mm Towed AT Gun * Heavy Armament Combat Vehicles * M40 106-mm Recoilless Rifle * 2S25 125-mm Self-Propelled Antitank Gun * AMX-10 PAC90 90-mm Fire Support Vehicle * AMX-10RC Armored Recon Vehicle * AMX-13 Light Tank * EE-9 Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle * M36 90-mm Self-Propelled AT Gun * M41A3 Walker Light Tank * M1985/PT-85 Light Tank * PT-76B Amphibious Tank * Scorpion Combat Vehicle Recon, Tracked * Type 63A Modernized Amphib Light Tank * Gun-Launched ATGMs and Guided Rounds * ATGM Launcher Vehicles * 9P148 (AT-4/5) ATGM Launcher Vehicle * 9P149/Shturm-S ATGM Launcher Vehicle * 9P162/Kornet-LR ATGM Launcher Vehicle * 9P157-2/Khrizantema-S ATGM Launcher Vehicle * AMX-10 HOT ATGM Launcher Vehicle * BRDM-2 HOT-3 ATGM Launcher Vehicle * M901/ITOW ATGM Launcher Vehicle * Type 92B Launcher Veh/Red Arrow-9 ATGM * BLOS and NLOS Missile Systems * Categories Non-Ballistic Missiles & Munitions * Table: BLOS and NLOS ATGM Systems * Mokopa NLOS ATGM launcher System

As armored combat vehicles added more protection and ascended in importance on the battlefield, so did systems designed to stop them gain importance. The umbrella term antitank (AT) originally denoted systems specifically designed to destroy tanks. Today it is more broadly constructed. Modern combat is combined arms combat. Mechanized forces include other armored combat vehicles, such as armored reconnaissance vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, etc. In order to address the whole spectrum of threats on the modern battlefield, new systems are being developed and older systems redesigned. Examples are heavy armament combat vehicles (HACVs) and heavy combat support vehicles. Tank armor protection continues to increase; but another way to defeat them is to defeat associated systems.
