On a cold December night in the year 1847 an escaped slave by the name of Jacob leads his evil white captors on a frantic chase through the woods. Where he eventually steps into this purple glowing time portal which magically transports him to the year 2016. But however, his wife and two kids who were sold off to a neighboring plantation owner a few weeks back are still stuck in 1847 leaving Jacob with a huge void in his heart. As all he can think about is returning to 1847 and journeying up north and hook up with some abolitionists so he can go back down south and rescue them.
Enter Lieutenant Heavy Metal and his 5 buddies attached to the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, NY who have just returned from a stint in Iraq and who will eventually cross paths with Jacob outside the local police station. Will they travel back in time to the year 1847 and help Jacob free his family? Or will Jacob's family be lost to him forever?
